[chirp_users] Special Mode?

The frequency range on the rda1846 transceiver ic inside the uv-5r is
134-174, 200-260, 400-520. Outside those ranges the RDA1846 just won't come
out to play. Internally in the radio it may be actually returning an error
but the firmware doesn't handle this (fails... Very silently.)

Sorry! If you want gapless RX this isn't your radio.
