I assume the radio is on when you attempt this, right? If so, then you
should have it all correct.

Do you know that the cable works? Try using it on a Windows PC with the
OEM software. If that works, then with CHIRP on the same box. If that
works, then you have a driver issue on the Mac. There are a ton of
counterfeit USB cables out there and while they correctly show up as a
port, they don't pass data properly. Macs seem to be the most sensitive
to these issues.

Also, make sure the cable is fully inserted into the radio. That one is
easy to get partially-seated.
