[drats_users] can't add radio port

Hi Bud,

This is a known problem with current Linux distributions (Ubuntu and Fedora). It will be fixed the the next Beta release (0.3.3b2) which should be out shortly.

In the interum, there is a work-around:
1. Close d-rats.
2. In your home directory, there should be a hidden folder named .d-rats/ (that's [dot]d-rats/).
3. In the .d-rats/ folder, open the file d-rats.config with a text editor. Find the [ports] section.
4. Copy the existing ratflector line and edit it's parameters to add your new port.
5. Save the new d-rats.config file
6. Start d-rats - your new port should be available.

I'll post an example of what my [ports] section looks like when I get home this afternoon.

To be fair, this is not really a d-rats problem: The GTK and GLADE utilities d-rats uses to do all of the "windowing" have been changed. Updating Fedora or Ubuntu Linux (or using a fairly new install CD) will break the "Add a Port" function. The Windows version d-rats still uses the older GTK/GLADE utilities, so it hasn't impacted them.

Hope this helps get you back online!

Mike, N0SO

forgive my rustiness, but I've been away from D-RATS for a few months (having twins will do that to you). I was previously running D-RATS on my netbook under eeebuntu hardy. Ive upgraded it to ubuntu lucid, and installed 0.3.3b1.

I am unable to add a port for the radio. When I enter the specs for the port and click add, nothing shows up. Nor can I edit the existing ratflector port. Same thing in 0.3.2b13. I noticed a closed trouble ticket for this (or a similar) issue, but when I click to open that ticket it won't open.

Any ideas/help?
