D-RATS uses a cross-platform GUI toolkit so that it can look roughly the
same on three different platforms.  One result of this is that it
doesn't use native Windows widgets and thus some things can't "see" the
text boxes, buttons, etc.  I imagine this is why your speech software
doesn't work with it.
