Okay, I see what you mean. The thing is, there is no distinction
between "local" and "remote" maps. Every single tile that is fetched
gets cached locally for a variety of reasons.
I suppose that I could try to come up with something that is the reverse
of the map downloader which would let you clear anything not within X
miles of a center point...
Do people actually have trouble with the amount of space the maps take
up on disk? I have 550 tiles cached on my system from a variety of
places, including my entire local area and it only takes up 116MB, which
is almost unnoticeable to me.

I know, I'm working on this. The move from "forms" to "messages" is
hopefully going to facilitate this. I plan to add something like a
"remote folder" in the folder list which will allow you to check for
remote messages on another system like an IMAP folder. I haven't worked
out all the details of this yet and am concentrating on getting 0.3
usable as a whole before I get too far into the business of adding
significant extra features like that.
