Subject: [drats_users] Website Proposal

Hi all,

When I first set up the D-RATS website, I envisioned a healthy wiki
community with lots of people adding content and helping to shield me
from doing all of that myself. This is pretty common in the software
world these days, but it obviously didn't pan out here like I had hoped.

I've been thinking for a while that perhaps a more conventional CMS
system for running the website might be less confusing and easier from
the user side. So, this afternoon I set up a prototype replacement
website and copied most of the important content over for a demo.

You can see the proposed site here:

  http://www.d-rats.com/site/

The UserManual is there under Documentation, along with a few of the
smaller topic-specific documents. There's also an FAQ system which I
hope to utilize to capture a bunch of the more common questions that
come up. Also note that almost any page in the system can be turned
into a printable or PDF version on the spot, which I think many of you
will appreciate.

Let me know what you think of it, and whether you think it will be
better from a user perspective. I'm really looking for some feedback
here, so speak up!

This system still has the ability to let people contribute to it, and
the trac system (that runs the bug tracker) has a wiki component that I
can re-enable in case we decide that we need some wiki space for something.

So, take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks!
