[drats_users] Failed to connect (after it was working)

Which GPS software?  Something else you have on your system?

It looks like you experienced this while exiting the preferences
dialog, is that right?

Each time you exit, it closes and re-opens the serial port in case you
have changed any of the relevant parameters.  The messages quoted
above are indeed an indication that something opened COM2 which caused
D-RATS to be unable to re-open it.

Another possible reason under windows could be that a USB adapter was
partially disconnected and then quickly reconnected to the system,
causing it to show up on a different COM port than before.  I've also
seen some cheap USB adapters get a little flaky when a radio transmits
close by.
