It seems that the OEM CPS can "zero" the identification string. Apparently
it can be edited to be anything that you want.

For now, this patch includes this new identification string to the list of
strings known strings. If additional strings appear in the future, another
solution will need to be found.

[Dan Smith <dsmith at danplanet.com>] Initial Kenwood TH-D74 live driver

The Kenwood D74 does not have a full serial command set, which
unfortunately means no support for memory names. So, this will never
be very useful, but because the Kenwood live protocol is so easy,
this will still be worthwhile. Like the D72 (and D710) a clone mode
driver will be needed for full capability.
