[chirp_users] Can't upload to FT-60R

Don’t let the nomenclature mess with your brain. The CHIRP software together with the programming cable makes your radio think you are cloning another radio (the source radio) to the one you want to program (the target radio). The clone instructions in the User Manual are correct (for the target radio) whether you are actually cloning one radio to another or uploading from CHIRP to your handheld.

Yes, I understand that you can copy from the radio to CHIRP just fine. There is some confusion going on here. I am talking about moving the programming you have done on your computer in the CHIRP software to your handheld FT-60R. When you do that you chose “Upload to Radio” in the “Radio” menu of the CHIRP software. You will see a dialog box with choices to make regarding the Port, Vendor and radio Model. When you make those selections and click OK, you get another dialog box titled “Yaesu FT-60 Instructions”. (You will notice that these instructions are the same as those in the User Manual for the target radio, except for the full-second thing). When you have followed the instructions on your CHIRP screen you need to click on the OK button and keep it down a full second because that is mimicking the PTT switch on a source radio. Otherwise you are not following the clone instructions in the manual.

BTW, I complained to CHIRP about the defective dialog that doesn’t say to hold down the OK button a full second and they immediately fixed that but I see that today, it is gone again.
