Easier but you need to make sure the prolitic driver is not updated from ver 3,2,0,0! Building a cable solves the issue

programming it from the key pad is OK, just thought there might be something

why built a cable, i used the low cost cable for BAOFENG, work well, used the  

original kenwood program or CHIRP . 

i used this cable into the kenwood th-f7
