[chirp_users] Is the ID-880H data protocol documented somewhere?

Hello all -

I just got an ID-880H and am getting started with D-STAR. I would like to
try writing my own applications for programming and controlling the radio,
but I cannot find anything that documents what the programming protocol is
for the radio. Can someone tell me where it might be documented? I'd like
to do things with the radio that CHIRP and the other programs do not do.
Any guidance?
