The STEP setting has nothing to do with it. In the latest firmware
versions the STEP setting has no bearing on what frequency can be
entered into the VFO. The only thing that the STEP setting does now is
the set how much the VFO frequency changes when you press the
[UP]/[DN] arrow keys while in the VFO.

This error is introduces when the user set menu 25 (SFT-D) and menu 26
(OFFSET) to the appropriate values for the repeater being programmed
and then taps the [*] key to put the radio into 'reverse mode" so the
TX frequency doesn't need to be keyed in manually. Unfortunately there
is a bug in the calculation of the TX frequency and this is what
caused the error in the frequency that gets programmed into the memory
channel.

A simple workaround is to tap the [*] key to see the TX frequency,
write it down (or remember it), then tap the [*] key to exit "reverse
mode". Now key the TX frequency in manually.
