[chirp_users] How to use the software

Hello,
I downloaded and installed the software. I am able to access the radio 
but I need help with all the column  headings.
What is
Tone mode, TSQL, DTCS, none and cross?
Tone
ToneSqu
DTCS Code
DTCS RX Code
DTCS Pol MN, RR, RN, NR
Cross Mode, tone->Tone, Tone->DTCS, DTCS->Tone, ->Tone, DTCS->, DTCS->DTCS
Duplex none, -, +, split, off
Offset
Mode FM, NFM
Skip

If I just want to listen to a channel and not talk on it want should the 
above setting be set to?
If I want to use it for my RR job what do I set the above too? I know 
the frequencys. What is type "BM" and mode "FMN" on radio reference mean?
