The way CHIRP works, reading from the radio is "downloading". Writing
to the radio is "uploading".
Because Baofeng keeps changing the memory layout of these radios, each
firmware version now has to be treated as if it were a different
radio. In other works, if the firmware version dies not exactly match,
the upload is aborted.
It this case, you are trying to upload the CHIRP Radio Image file from
a Baofeng radio with 2 power levels and trying to upload it into a
Baofeng radio with 3 power levels. The has never been permitted.
As mentioned already, you can cut and paste from the UV-5R tab to the
BF-F8HP tab, but a better way is to import the UV-5R image in to a tab
from your UV5RM HP.
1. download from your UV5RM HP using the BF-F8HP model selection
2. click File
3. click Import
4. change the button that says "CHIRP Files (*.chirp)" to "CHIRP Radio
Images (*.img)"
5. find and load the image from your UV-5R
6. make any changes to the "Import From File" dialog box and click [OK]
7. make any changes to the settings menus
8. upload to your UV5RM HP
Using the CHIRP Import feature also works across differing brands and
models. Plus it also transfers the "extra" settings like BCL and
PTT-ID that cut-and-paste does not.
