Why do we need to have a long useless discussion about this on a trivial
subject on a mailing list. Go to your neighbor's house and have an argument
with them.

Anyone that doesn't know we use phone frequencies on 2 meters doesn't know
their HAM history. Their was a time when you either were transmitting code
or phone. Phone is voice audio modulation.
This is from the http://www.arrl.org/frequency-allocations web page.
2 Meters
All Amateurs except Novices:
144.0-144.1 MHz: CW Only
144.1-148.0 MHz: CW, Phone, Image, MCW, RTTY/Data
Notice the word Phone!!! Saying phone frequencies in HAM lingo is totally
correct.

Phone *frequencies* yes. Calling a RADIO a "phone", no. Not unless you
really don't know a lot about radio.

Have not heard of 'phone' frequencies ? Not a ham then I take it. I'm in

Buddy, if you think that's a phone you have in your hand, it's safe to
say that CHIRP is the least of your worries.

New list member. I have a new Baofeng UV82L that a friend loaded with
his freqs using Chirp on his PC. I have installed Chirp software on my
Win 7 PC along with the correct Prolific usb serial to com port driver
7/31/2007 v 3.2.0.0. My pc recognizes the driver as Com 3 and is
operating normally. I want to upload my phone freqs into my blank
Chirp software but I am getting an error msg after plugging in the usb
cable "cannot open port 3 [Error 2]. The system cannot find the file
specified" and Chirp will not connect to the phone. Any Suggestions?
