Mike,

You don't mention anything about installing the KK7DS Python runtime
package that is required for running CHIRP on a Mac. It is available from a
link near the bottom of the download page.

Also you are not selecting the correct communications port. This could be
an indication that you have not installed a driver that is compatible with
your programming cable. I assume that you have a programming cable with a
copied Prolific chip. Visit this page and get the "generic" driver that is
compatible with your OS.
