Download the last daily build and install it. 
Chirp has an autodetect setting for Kenwood so try that
first. If it doesn't work see if the TM-271 / TM-281. I don't
have the latest build because it works ok with the radios 
I use it for. You can also wait around here to see if one of
the programmers who write for Chirp to tell you exactly 
if the radio is supported.

hello chirp users i have been using chrip on my baofeng but would like 
to know when i look it up in chrip it does not show the tm 281 mobile 
radio and i would like to use chrip or do i have to go to the daily 
updates to find it and if so were or what number is it under so i can 
use for the kenwood tm 281 thanks
