I have Windows 7, a late 2007 iMac or an Ubuntu 13.10 machine to choose
from.
The cable works as expected on my Windows 7 machine and it seems to be
detected by my Mac and Linux (using the "dmesg | grep tty" command from
a terminal.
While useful, the "stock" programming software leaves a LOT to be desired.
