[chirp_users] Help requested for Yaesu 857D

Following the wiki procedure, I put my 857D in clone mode, set Chirp to download from radio, then pressed the send button on the 857D. It showed sending and the Chirp window populated. The 857D then showed error. I shut it down, then repowered, and all seemed ok.

I made a few edits to the .img file in Chirp. Then, again following the wiki, I put the 857D into clone receive and hit upload on Chirp. The clone window completed, then the 857D immediately, without intervention, went into clone sending mode and froze there.

Eventually I shut down and repowered, to find that all memories had vanished, along with all other settings (mike select, etc). In short, a hard reset back to factory defaults. Not what I wanted at all.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix? Thanks for any help.
