How did you create your bootable flash drive? When I made mine I used a
freeware utility called UNetbootin. It is available for Windows, Linux and
Mac.

One of the options is to setup the "Space used to preserve files across
reboots". If I remember, I took the size of my flash drive and subtracted
500 meg for the CHIRP CD and then allocated something close to the
remainder for preserving files.
