It may simply not be supported in the firmware.

If you're looking for a channel only radio and UHF only is acceptable, the
480 / 666 / 777 / 888 series handhelds from Baofeng may be a lot better for
your application. They're just 16 channel with a rotary knob. Simple,
elegant, and quite functional.
