[chirp_users] Programming Anytone mobile

So you are importing an .img file from a different radio and
Chirp handles the conversion. I'll have to give this a try before
I would recommend it to any of my Anytone list members. 
But you are right it does save a step although it doesn't 
appear to conserve a lot of key strokes in doing so. I used the good
old copy and past between A and B radios. Only had a total of 10
presets so it didn't take long and actually worked well. I've got all
5 of my Chinese radios cloned now. But I need a new USB to DB6
cable to use my old RT Systems DB6 serial to radio cables I bought
eons ago. Still work but the old Radio Shack USB to DB6 is so old
the last driver was written for Windows 2000. It will work if you force 
a manual install but it doesn't play nice with the Prolific and FTDI drivers. 
Screw up the COM port assignments for the others. Thanks for the heads up
I'm going to go check that out on the Windows 7 PC.

Actually, you can cut out a step. You dont need to export to csv.

.img are the radio "image" files, which are representations of the radio's memory, and therefore specific to your exact model, and in most cases, the exact radio.
Therefore, you cannot just open image from radio A and upload it to image B.

For copying channels from radio A to B:
1. download from radio A, and save as A.img
2. download from radio B and save as B.img (or alternatively, open a recently saved image from B)
3. in radio B's layout, do file, import. change the type from "chirp files (*.chirp)" to "chirp radio images (*.img)"

This will engage the import feature, just as if you had gone through additional, intermediate steps of exporting to and importing from csv, which isnt completely necessary.

As others have pointed out, you can also just do copy and paste.

Oh, and thanks for the tip on Import/Export.  It's been a long day and I 
missed trying that.  Looks like I can export my HT file as a .csv and 
then import it into a new file and load into the Anytone. Will mess 
around with it more tomorrow.
