I always read from the radio first. The IC-92 is a "live" radio - any changes you make in chirp are immediately sent to the radio when it;s connected, so I always let it complete reading the radio before I make any changes. I get error messages from the radio periodically too. Just keep trying until it syncs. Usually once it syncs up I don't have any issues as long as I don't turn the radio off.

Let it sit on the "Names" tab for a bit. On mine, for the B side It takes a while for the names to be read from the radio. Also be aware that I'm NOT seeing the names and memory bank selections for A or B being saved off to the chirp data files in the current version, I think that is still a work in progress.

Read from the radio first, then try to import the data file.
