I have used this cable for some time and it has worked well with my windows pc setup, which I haven already gotten rid of.

A. Plug in cable to Mac and radio
B. Put radio in clone mode (hold v/m and power on, select clone, push set, radio restarts in clone mode)
C. Start up chirp, click ok box on debug mode
D. Select radio clone
E. select the select the 'usbserial' device from the list
F. Select radio type yaesu/ft8800
G. Push ok in chirp, chirp is now waiting for input from radio
H. Push transmit button on yaesu (v/m, radio shows transmitting)

About one second goes by then I get error on radio and error reported in chirp.
