Have you used your USB-serial adapter for anything else? What device
name are you putting into the clone box?

I assume you're following the "Note for Yaesu radios" bits of these
procedures:

Specifically about making sure the computer is waiting for the radio
before hitting the button to fire off the clone from the radio side?
