G'day Roger,
 
Just another thing to check... Can you confirm that when you were trying
to do work with Band A in CHIRP that the radio was set to Band B and
running in DV mode?  
 
As you may / may not be aware a quirk with CHIRP and using the IC-9X
radios is that Band B must be selected and the mode set to DV for it to
transfer information (even for Band A memories).  
 
On the 92AD if you have the radio is set to Band A and you try to
"Connect  to IC9X - Band A" it will indicate that it is getting 800+
memories, but nothing gets transferred.
