Debbie, Dave and everyone else on the list,

First let me apologize. I should never try to write an email
when I am tired.

First I am using D-Rats ver. 0.3.1 connected to the Internet and am trying
to receive and send email (POP and SMTP). I am able to receive email via D-Rats.
I have D-rates configure to use the Internet. I am able to connect to the
Ratflectors and chat or send forms. I have D-Rats configured to send outgoing
email from D-Rats to my Earthlink email account.

I left the Port at the default. I just called Earthlink and found out that
the port is 587. After setting D-Rats to use port 587 for outgoing email and
waiting over 30 minutes the test email was still in my outbox. I entered desloan@earthlink.net for both the
Source Address and the SMTP Username. SMTP server is smtpauth.earthlink.net I
also have entered my password for my email account. Gateway is enabled. Messages
is set to Automatically Forward Messages (enabled) and for testing I have it set
for 15 seconds. I just sent a MEMO to a friend using D-Rats and it was sent
without any problem.

Any ideas of what I am missing. Also I have tried this on both my desktop
(WIN XP) and laptop (Vista) with the same result.

list:

-radio-to-radio communications (chat, or messages) with a D-STAR

a D-STAR
radio to a TNC)
-computer to computer communications (chat, or

it's all in the config setup. If it's not sending mail I
would check two
things first. do you have the "connected to the
internet" checkbox set, and
is your setup for sending mail right (ports,
mode, accounts). then in the
message you're trying to send
out, do you have it formatted correctly (email
address in the right place)
and have you set it to forward messages, or told
it to
manually?

Fill us in on what exactly you've tried/settings you're using
for outgoing
email (except passwords, don't share those!) where you're
putting the email
address, etc. and someone should be able to help you get
it working. Also,
post which version of D-RATS you're using, one
of the betas or the final
version of 3.1, etc.

73,
-debbie,

Hello all,
> I am a new user and trying to figure
out how to use D-Rats ver 0.3.1. I
have been able to configure D-Rats for
RF using a Kantronics Kam Plus with a
Yaesu FT 7800r. I configured Outgoing
email and Incoming email to use my
Earthlink email account. I am running
D-Rats on my Toshiba laptop with Vista
OS. I am able to receive incoming
email without any problem. However, when I
try to send an email it just
sits in my outbox. What am I doing wrong?
>
> TNX
