Subject: [drats_users] Ideas for the web site

Hi all,

A couple of people have recently remarked to me that they find the
current web site for D-RATS to be confusing and disorganized. I think
that some of this stems from an expectation of a polished and
professionally-maintained site funded from the copious proceeds of the
product being sold. Clearly, D-RATS doesn't fit that mold :)

I initially chose a wiki because I had a grand plan of people helping
me with managing and generating the web content (something that is
becoming more popular these days on various projects). Thus far, only
a few people have stepped up and helped out in a few places. However,
we still have a dearth of information on the site and it's not easily
reachable.

I hope that people would rather me spend time working on D-RATS itself
than spinning (badly-done) web pages, but maybe I'm mistaken.

So, I'm asking the group here for suggestions and ideas on how to
improve. Some possible options are:

1. Leave it the way it is and bark at people that don't like it

2. Leave it the way it is and name a few specific people as
custodians

3. Move to a more static site that looks slick but that doesn't
have any updated information over time

4. Move to a different type of CMS that will still allow user
contributions but *might* be easier to use than the wiki (I think
it's easy to use as-is of course, but I'm biased)

5. Me split my time between working on D-RATS features and creating
web content (this one doesn't end well, by the way :)

Note that the trac area has a wiki component (not as flexible as the
main site, but would still allow some user-content independent of what
we do for the main site).

So, seriously. Speak up with your thoughts. If there's something we
can do to change for the better, then lets do it!
