Why should the Amateur Radio service be any different than that of local emergency services?<br><br>We currently have the following systems in use at our local EOC; Outpost, APRS (WinAPRS, APRS Point, and D*PRS), also setup is WinL2K, and soon to be Pactor. It really would be nice if we could have all the systems be interoperable with the others. <br><br>During Hurricane Ike we ran into an issue when we tried to contact our Mobile Command Post on deployment, discovered that the infrastructure was to far gone to get reliable messaging. However, we didn't have WinL2K at that time, but if we could have passed a message between the different systems it may have worked. <br><br>We also noticed the need for a directed net just for passing communications to our Mobile Command Posts (A logistics net if you will).<br><br>I can see the need!
