<DIV>Hey Dan Im running Vista and Vista took out Hyper Terminal out of vista. And Im connected to COM3 and the gps is on it works fine with nRoute a program for the gps 18. Some times I can get it to talk to d-rats by turnning it off and on and restarting cpu, some times that will work other times it wont. Also I can set the strings I want it to send out, if you let me know what d-rats likes I can put it on them strings which im sure its just the default strings for nmea compliant gps's. Just let me know what strings D-rats likes and I will give that a try. For some reason its not keeping the gps locked when connected to d-rats but nRoute thats no problem. 91AD connected on COM4 / GPS 18 PC Serial connected to COM3. Are you sure the GPS is on, sending NMEA strings, and <BR>connected to COM3?<BR><BR>As a test, you might want to close D-RATS and open HyperTerminal <BR>connected to COM3 at 4800 baud. You should see a constant stream of <BR>strings that start with "$GP". If you don't, tell me what you see.<BR><BR>I assume that the GPS18 can do multiple data types like the rest of <BR>Garmin's product line, but I
