 Who are you trying to send them to and through what station?  Just
 connecting to the ratflector does not provide you a gateway to send
 messages to the internet.  Rather, it just simulates an RF channel and
 provides a transport to contact other stations.  To send a message you
 still need a reachable destination, or a gateway station to send your
 message over the internet.

 Perhaps a little more detail about what you're trying to do would help me
 help you.
