 Well, this is really a hold-over from how things behaved in D-RATS 0.2.x
 where there were no folders, among other things.

 The "save" button lets you change the contents of the message and save the
 changes where the close button discards any changes.  I think more of what
 needs to happen is if a message is opened from the inbox (a received
 message) then it needs to be unchangeable with a close button and then
 messages from the outbox (and new ones) have a save button and are
 editable.  Does a change to that make sense?  I'm also testing code for a
 change in behavior so that you can open a message and do other things in
 the app while editing it, as well as have multiple message windows open at
 a time.  So, a change in the button behavior would go well with that.
