 Hmm, the code searches for COM1-COM257.  I'm not sure why it's not getting
 picked up.  It certainly does detect my virtual COM ports (all of mine are
 virtual :)

 Reportedly Windows doesn't have a more appropriate method for finding the
 available COM ports, and currently Windows users suffer an extra second or
 two of latency when opening the preferences dialog because of the search
 I'm currently doing.  If there is another method of determining the ports,
 I haven't found documentation on it.
