Maps and GPS aren't perfect.  Sometimes when my GPS doesn't have a 
clear view of the sky I can be 100's of feet off.  I know places where 
maps and the roads can be off by 100's of feet as well, but it's rare. 
It's common for roads to be off by 50 feet or so.

Usually a GPS will be within 10', and it can be a scary reality when 
the target gets placed exactly where you are!
