Okay, the connect should be happening in a thread, so I'm not sure why
the hang is surfacing.  I'm using a local server which is very fast, so
perhaps that has something to do with it.

I'll take a look and see if I can reproduce, but if anyone gets a log of
it, that would be helpful.
