[drats_users] Testing/Debugging

I guess I have bagged back long enough. It seems that many have and are
experiencing the many capabilities of D-Rats. I have been testing/debugging
the mapping capabilities of D-Rats with Dan for a while and haven't posted
any comments as my time has been spent building overlay files and testing.
The testing and resulting debug files are only as good as the input back to
Dan (who I might add has done a tremendous job addressing the issues given
the fact he has not even had the luxury of a repeater or gateway yet).

I have set up a short test scenario that I use and it seems to work,
therefore I would like to share them with the group:
1. Test one function at a time i.e. chat, mapping, ping, file transfer etc
2. Start in simplex the progress to repeater operation then to repeater with
gateway.
3. Note the results for each and send results with the debug file (by
default a new debug file is generated at the close of each session and
placed in the download directory normally the desktop) to Dan. Note; It is
helpful to change the name of the debug file to something that will identify
it to your test such as "WA4DOC - KX3FFG Chat SX". Obviously it helps if
both sides of the xmission can be obtained (xmitting and receiving station)
4. Write a brief narrative of your session and the results.
5. Forward the narrative and associated debug files to Dan.

It is through this testing that many issues have been uncovered.

I have 2 machines running 2.5 on 2 separate radios (ic-91ad & ic-2820) so
testing is much easier. Tip: If you are using a 91 or 92 make sure the power
save option is off

I am available to test with anyone that would like to set up a session. I
too would like to test some direct callsign routing and reflector work for
those interested.
I have also built some Map Overlay files with icons. They are specific to
the Tampa Bay area in Florida but if you would like a copy as a template,
drop me an email.
I found a free service for bulk Geocoding that can cut down your build time
for map overlays. It takes some maneuvering but it works and is free.
