The radio uses serial communications. The<br clear="none" class="">programming cable has a chip inside that when used with the<br clear="none" class="">appropriate device driver installed in the Windows operating system,<br clear="none" class="">creates a virtual serial port (COM port) for the programming software<br clear="none" class="">to connect to.
