<div dir="auto">You never can save a CSV file as an IMG file.<div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">The IMG file "speaks" the data bits your radio's memory needs. The IMG file will only work with your radio. That's why you have to download it from your radio to start. Be careful, you might think that two radios with the same model number would have the same IMG file, but sometimes that's not true, so don't ever use an IMG file from the same model, treat each radio as potentially different.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">If that is so, what is the common denominator that will speak to all models? We are going to use a "go between" of a CSV spreadsheet.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Download from your radio to get your radio's IMG file. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Now we're going to <span style="font-family:sans-serif">EXPORT</span> your frequencies and parameters to CSV spreadsheet first so it can be pasted into another models IMG file. This is what's used to take information from one radio to another.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Once it is in spreadsheet format you can edit it with he spreadsheet program, LibreOffice. DO NOT USE MICROSOFT EXCEL as it introduces errors.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Once you have your data in CSV file, you can rearrange it, and save it. Use a format like 2019repeaters.csv to identify it.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">You can then take my ICOM radio, download the IMG file using CHIRP, save with the file name like ICOM_990 to identify it. Now you have the original IMG file backed up. Don't close the file yet. Copy the columns and rows you want to paste into the other radio, I use Ctrl-c. This is in LibreOffice.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Now in CHIRP you still have the IMG file open.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Find the place where you want the information you just copied and paste it in.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Save the file with a new name so that you have the original IMG file and the modified IMG file. I use file names like 20190410yaesumodel.IMG so I know what it is. Save the new IMG file.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Now upload the new IMG file to your radio.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">If your friend comes over with a his radio. Download his IMG file with CHIRP. Use CHIRP to select ALL and delete ALL.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">He wants a clone of your radio. So in OpenOffice open the <span style="font-family:sans-serif">2019repeaters.csv file, select ALL and copy ALL</span></div><div dir="auto"><span style="font-family:sans-serif"><br></span></div><div dir="auto"><span style="font-family:sans-serif">Go back to CHIRP and paste what you just copied. Save the IMG file with a new name. question or two so far on here and have been graciously answered. Well, I’m still trying to learn. I have a Yeasu VX-170 and a new Baofeng UV-5R 8 watt unit. I’ve managed to load a few frequencies onto the Baofeng and it’s all good. But, a buddy just bought
the same exact radio as mine and, I wanted to program his to the same frequencies, minus a few that wouldn’t apply to him anyways. But, here’s the deal. All of files I’ve saved are csv files. From my brief learning period, csv files CANNOT be uploaded to
a radio, only IMG files can. Here’s the problem. If I want to upload frequencies, they must be from an image file and, I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to convert a csv file to an image file. I’m on about a 6 year old Dell Inspiron running Windows
8.1 on a solid state hard drive. I know, I know, Windows 8.1 is sort of old school but, the reason I have and use it is because, when I had the new SSHD installed, it was at a time when Windows 10 was brand new and many, many folks were not happy with it so,
the company that was doing my computer rebuild asked me if I wanted to remain with Windows 8.1. I said, yep, keep it. So, that’s the story on that.
