I do not know them. There was a time about 8 years ago when any cable would work and it made sense to go cheap. But then the USB-Serial converter that chip was cloned and sold cheaply quit working. To fight back the developers of the real chip and drivers wrote another "official" driver that caused their thieving competitor's cables to quit working. For a while the FTDI chip-set could be counted on as it hadn't been cloned yet. But about 3 years ago the FTDI chipset was also cloned, with the same result. And for a while you could guess by price. The more expensive cables were not clones. Everyone wants a USB-Serial chip for $1. But the people who developed the chip and the software deserve to be paid for the work done in design, testing and marketing it. You can argue either way for it. But the fact is that Windows updates the driver based on the "official" driver provided to them by the owners of the patent for the chipset and software.
