One radio allow me to change information relating to a channel, the other requires that I delete the channel and re-add it – funky but workable.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Other minor hassles are that one is ver 1FP3-25 and the other is ver 1FB297; since he wants both radios the same, that’s not a problem, cut and paste from one img to the other and it’s done<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Since I use Chirp to program my radios - and some friends – I suggested he get it on his computer. Now the fun begins.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>He runs UBUNTU and while I’m somewhat familiar with Linux I got stopped cold.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>First error: access to USB0 denied (or words to that effect) chmod 777 /dev/usb0 fixed that.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>Second error: Ubuntu failed to communicate with radio. 'serial' object has no attribute 'settimeout'<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>Pretty much stopped dead, however he has two versions of python on that computer python 2.7.12 and a python 3 (sorry didn’t get the full version). If I’m reading this correctly, if he were running python3 the above wouldn’t be a problem <that’s a question>; if that’s the case, how does he tell ubuntu / chirp to use py3?<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>…<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>Remember, I said I don’t know what I’m talking about, can someone guide??
