I have and ID880h and a mac. However I used a cable I made
myself. I had no trouble when communicating between the PC
and the id880, but had a similar problem from the mac. so I
can agree with a potential issue with the id880 on a mac when the
same image and cable work on a PC. I have not yet dug into
the problem. Sorry.

could try running Chirp in Linux. Once again I was able to clone
the contents of the radio, such as they currently are, but trying
to upload the modified img file with the bank information results
in a slightly different error. Now Chirp acts like it completes the
upload, but the status bar on the radio goes all the way to the
right and then displays CL ERR, forcing a reset of the radio.</div>
