Hello and thank you to all who have given their experience here. The issue I am having is that on my CHIRP I have the OFFSET at .600, and the DUPLEX either a + or -. However when I upload this to my radio it does not take the settings. My radio reads OFFSET 00.000 and DUPLEX "none". I just finished uninstalling, and reinstalling, CHIRP. When I did my initial upload from the radio the settings in CHIRP show the correct OFFSET and DUPLEX in the radio. I tried to find this already reported, but did not.<br>

Before uploading to CHIRP you must create an initial template by doing a Download From Radio.<br>
CHIRP supports over 60 model radios and needs to know which radio it is programming.<br>
Make updates to the template and Upload To Radio.<br>

I?d like to know, if anybody managed to program the UV-82 using chirp (or the daily build 20140428) on osx 10.9.2. I read that one might or might not have to disable apple?s own driver for FTDI chipset. I?ve been googleing the topic for a few days now and have not found a way to make it work on my mbp. The system report will tell me that a USB-Serial Controller is there:<br>

Both CHIRP and your radio are working correctly.<br>

Menu 25 (SFT-D) and menu 26 (OFFSET) only have any meaning in VFO mode.<br>
They unnecessary in MR (channel) mode because the UV-5R and its variants<br>
(including the UV-82) does not use them in this mode. Instead, memory<br>
channels store both the direct RX and TX frequencies.<br>

Definitions - Detailed" to get a copy of the "Reference for UV-82 Menus".<br>

that has its Memory Display Format set to FREQuency (menu 21 or menu 22)<br>
and then select a channel that has been programmed for a repeater. The<br>
currently selected display should be showing the RX frequency. Now tap the<br>
[*SCAN] key to put the radio into "reverse" mode.. An "R" should appear in<br>
the upper status display and the any display with its MDF set to FREQ<br>
should be showing the programmed TX frequency. Tap the [*SCAN] key again to<br>
exit "reverse" mode.<br>

In MR mode the "+-" symbol is displayed to indicate that the RX and TX<br>
frequencies are different. This would be true for a repeater channel with<br>
standard offset, a split channel with an odd offset, a cross-band channel<br>
or TX inhibited channel. A separate "+" or "-" indication is only available<br>
in VFO mode when menu 25 and menu 26 are valid.<br>

have you tried transmitting on a channel that is supposed to have an offset? When I look at the menu setting #26 of the uv-82 I see the same value that you do, 00.000. However when I transmit on a channel of which I know I have put an offset using Chrip, I can see that the radio switches to the adjusted offset-frequency. In channel mode you can adjust (menu# 21 & 22) whether you want to the the channel name, channel# or frequency. When on frequency one can see the switch.<br>

This would be true for a repeater channel with standard offset, a split channel with an odd offset, a cross-band channel or TX inhibited channel. A separate "+" or "-" indication is only available in VFO mode when menu 25 and menu 26 are valid.<br>

1. You dont have an ftdi chipset driver - so fixes for that dont apply.<br>
2. You are using prolific (pl2303) and one of the open source drivers, as evidenced by the /dev/NoZAP* device.<br>

If you still get radio is not responding, then there could be a cable, and/or connection issue.<br>
You mentioned you already eliminated that as a possibility, that you were able to program same radio and cable combo on win 7.<br>
