Assuming that 67.0 Hz is the CTCSS tone used by the
Motorola radios, you have 2 choices for programming
the BF-888S radios. But before we get started, you
should click "View" in the CHIRP menu bar and then
in the drop down menu, enable "Hide Unused Fields".
<br>
<br>
</div>
Method 1:<br>
<br>
</div>
<div>This method will transmit the 67.0 Hz CTCSS tone
that is required to open the squelch on the Motorola
radios. It leaves the BF-888S squelch as carrier
operated. It won't matter if the transmitting station
is using CTCSS or not.<br>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
Tone Mode = Tone<br>
</div>
Tone = 67.0<br>
</div>
<div>ToneSql = unused (88.5 or blank if "Hide Unused Fields"
is enabled)<br>

Jim, thank you so much. Your Method 1 worked like a champ, so I
never even tried Method 2.<br>

Thanks, also, for this warning. It never even occurred to me that
reprogramming these radios might be illegal. I'll pass this one. Do
you know of any pointers to documents on the Web that might be
useful to read concerning this issue?<br>
<br>
Thanks, again, for your excellent help and advice. Have a good day.<br>

just joined this group, after downloading and using CHIRP.<br>
Thank you all for a very helpful application.<br>
<br>
The principal at my son's school asked for my help. They
have a number<br>
of Motorola XTN XU2600 radios, that they'd like to gradually
replace<br>
with Baofeng BF-888S ones. I'm trying to use CHIRP to
program the<br>
Baofeng radios so that they interoperate with the Motorola
ones, using<br>
the same channel numbers.<br>
<br>
I was able to run CHIRP and successfully downloaded the
settings from<br>
the Baofeng. However, I don't have a programming cable for
the Motorola,<br>
and the Baofeng one doesn't fit. I changed the frequencies
in the<br>
Baofeng to match the UHF frequencies I found in the Motorola
user's<br>
manual, but the radios don't communicate. I left all the
other columns<br>
unchanged.<br>
<br>
Subsequently, I changed the 'TONE Mode' to 'None' for all
the channels.<br>
I then noticed that the Baofeng could receive on channel 1
when I<br>
transmitted on the Motorola on channel one, but the Motorola
couldn't<br>
receive from the Baofeng.<br>
<br>
I believe that I need all the information for all the
columns to get the<br>
Baofeng working with the Motorola. Can anyone point me to a
CHIRP .img<br>
file or a .cvs file for the Motorola XTN XU2600? I'd be
happy to send my<br>
factory-default Baofeng BF-888S .img file to anyone, or to a
repository,<br>
for future reference. Is the Motorola set up to use any of
the stock<br>
configs?<br>
<br>
This is what I have programmed in the Baofeng for channel 1:<br>
Freq: 464.500000<br>
Tone mode: none<br>
Tone: 88.5<br>
ToneSql: 69.3<br>
DTCS Code: 023<br>
DTCS Rx Code: 023<br>
DTCS Pol: NN<br>
Cross Mode: Tone->Tone<br>
Duplex: none<br>
Offset: 0.0<br>
Mode: FM<br>
Power: High<br>
Skip: S<br>
<br>
Thank you for any advice or guidance you can give me. Thank,
again, for<br>
such a useful program.<br>
<br>
