There was a. live linux CD that had chirp on it that was all set up.

Linux is best because you don't need drivers, the live CD eliminates the problems with Linux permissions and groups which sometimes snag the first time Linux user.

Here is the Live CD link and important information on making a Live USB from it.

I went to the miklor site, my driver shows up as being a supported driver for a FTDI cable which I am using (driver version 2.10.0.0). I tried a different computer and still the same thing. So far I have tried two windows computers, a mac computer, and checked every suggestion I can find on the web (ftdi chip website, miklor etc) and the chirp mailing list. I have rebooted my computer several times. I have even performed a factory reset of the radio. Nothing I have tried has allowed chirp to talk to the radio. I am at a lost as to what could be the problem unless the cable could be bad. I have programmed the radio in the past with the RTSystems cable and software using their opc-478 cable and the icom 1797 cable. That is why I was hoping someone in the raleigh area of NC would happen to have both chirp and the IC-92AD functioning correctly, so I could try their computer and cable to see if it was the radio or if it was my cable and/or computer.
