If you are downloading from the radio ok, then the current build
of Chirp doesn't need replacing. And if that's
the only frequency in the radio you have, that's
all it has to download into your Chirp's channel screen.
In the main Chirp channel display it will show on the
toolbar "Memory Range" This is usually set first
to 0 - 25. You can increase that if you have more than
25 channels. But again if the radio is new it probably
just has one channel. If so then put a few channels
in it and then select Radio - Upload and watch what happens.
If it does upload then you were successful. Put some more
channels in or shut the radio off and unplug the cable from it.
I never plug in or unplug the cable from the radio while it is on.
If your cable is
plugged into a USB port that you can leave
it plugged into, then just leave it and coil it up. Those cables
will get a different com port because the computer gives the
cable a different ID when plugged into a port it's not been plugged in.
Then you have to choose the port again in Chirp. But Chirp has
been pretty good lately remembering which port I used last time
So you don't have to choose it over each time you use Chirp
if the cable's COM port stays the same. I've got three cables
and they all remain plugged into a USB hub. This keeps the COM
ports the same. And a lot of people struggle with cables and
COM ports. It's a frequent support question brought to the list.

Milton

<div style="font-family: HelveticaNeue, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial,
