How is anyone to know if the cable is genuine or not. There is no way to know. I just bought two radios, 2 mic, and 2 cables. One is not working, and yes I thought it was maybe a phony. And the company has asked me to send it back to China to be inspected to verify it is not working. That cost more to ship it than I paid for it. Or they will send me another one for five dollars. So everytime we buy one from China where they are made, that is the chance we All take. It works, which doesn’t necessarily mean that its genuine, but I’m happy to buy a genuine chipped cable if I know where to buy one. The Prolific website link in Dean’s post referred us to two recommended sellers, but neither of those had cables for the UV5R (that I could see).
