How does one (easily) search the archives for a question?

Surely, you don't expect people to download the archive files and grep them?
Nor, I hope, do you expect someone to open each month's archive to see if
any of the threads or subjects match the question?

It surprises me, although it shouldn't, the number of people who ask the
same question that's been asked and answered numerous times and is in the
group archives, but then it's easier to be lazy and ask it again than do
your own research and look to see if someone in the past has had the same
question answered.
