>The #2 cause of trouble is not getting the 2-pin plug fully inserted into the radio. Due to these cheaply made items (radio and cable) it is not uncommon for some users to need to press on the plug during the cloning operation to make sure there is a connection inside the radio.

I modify the programming cable with a Dremel tool and remove a bit of
the plastic that prevents the plugs from fully seating into the HTs.
