One thing you can try is to go to Apple Menu > About this Mac > System
Report

>From there, scroll down the left side and click USB. Plug in your cable,
hit Command-R to refresh. See if a new device appears, remove the cable,
refresh again, see if it goes away. If you can see the cable appear and
disappear then you've got drivers for it already working. MacOS does have
some drivers built-in.
