Hello all,
I’m a rank newbie here...just bought my first radio (Tenway UV-R5) and am working on the initial basic license. I’ve got Windows (10), MacOS (Catalina) and Linux (Ubuntu) all running on various PCs and laptops at home. I’ve been following these threads to learn about the various options with each platform, but I’d prefer to use an older dedicated Ubuntu laptop as my sandbox and to avoid OS-specific licensing costs. This will also allow me to avoid impacting the systems which I have to use for work and personal business. 

I’d also like to set up a real base station at some point, but I suspect that’s a way off at this stage. Lot’s to absorb from this group!
